BHARCS is pleased to announce the publication of a new peer-reviewed paper by its Principal and Director, Sindhoor, in Human-Animal Interactions.

Cover of the published paper: The Open Palm Gesture in Human–Dog Communication: An Exploratory Synthesis, Human-Animal Interactions journal

Titled The Open Palm Gesture in Human–Dog Communication: An Exploratory Synthesis, the paper explores the role of the open palm gesture as a potentially affective form of communication between humans and dogs. Bringing together insights from canine cognition, gesture studies, attachment theory, anthropology, communication, and qualitative field observations, the paper argues that this ancient and widely used human gesture deserves greater scientific attention.

The publication reflects BHARCS' ongoing commitment to advancing evidence-informed approaches to understanding human–dog relationships and contributes a new perspective to the growing field of anthrozoology.
